SecureWeb Guard is a defensive web security scanner built to analyze the basic security posture of a website. It checks HTTPS usage, important security headers, cookie security flags, response information, risk level, security score, security grade, scan history, and remediation recommendations.

This project is designed for students, de, and cyber security beginners who want to understand how websites can be re for common security misconfigurations in a simple and practical way.

Tech Stack

How It Works

1. User enters a website URL.
2. The frontend sends the URL to the local Node.js server.
3. The ser website response headers.
4. The scanner checks HTTPS, security headers, cookies, and response info.
5. A security report is generated with score, risk level, grade, findings, and recommendations.
6. User can copy, download, clear, or review scan history.

Project Purpose

The purpose of this project is to build a practical cyber security tool that helps users understand website security basics. It focuses on defensi and awareness, not hacking or exploitation.

SecureWeb Guard helps identify missing or weak configurations such as missing CSP, missing HSTS, missing clickjacking protection, missing MIME sniffing protection, weak referrer policy, missing permissions policy, and insecure cookie settings.

Risk Scoring

The project calculates a security score based on a security controls. Missing important headers or weak configurations reduce the o score.

How to Run Locally

1. Clone the repository:

~Do not open index.html directly using the file path. The scanner needs the Node.js ser the frontend sends scan requests to the backend API.
